Overview

Denis Chaurette practises corporate and commercial law. He is known in the mid-market sector for his excellent business sense as well as his thorough understanding of client issues and their budgetary constraints. His reputation has also been forged by his ability to close transactions, his tenacity in achieving objectives and his creativity.

Denis’ experience combines 42 years of practice in commercial transactions and consulting, including 15 years in commercial litigation. Denis examines every angle of a situation in order to provide the right advice customized for each client. He has successfully settled numerous shareholders’ disputes.

Over the course of his career, Denis has advised clients at every step in the business life cycle, be it incorporation, governance or sale, including growth management, employee incentives, shareholder disputes, partnerships, financings and acquisitions.

Denis has knowledge in the areas of real estate, intellectual property, taxation, labour law and environmental law, etc. As such, he assists entrepreneurs and institutions define the issues clearly and call in experts as needed to identify options, solutions and action plans.

Denis has completed over 140 purchase and sale transactions for the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, both in Quebec and cross-border. He regularly represents private investment funds, including Novacap and Champlain Financial Corporation (Canada) Inc.

His clientele is composed primarily of investment funds, venture capital companies and businesses.
