Craig Brown is an active member of several practice groups including Securities and Mergers & Acquisitions, Emerging Technology and the Asia Pacific Practice Group, and leads Fasken’s India Practice Group. His transaction-oriented practice is focused on advising high-growth Canadian companies with a global outlook, as well as leading investment dealers, merchant banks and private equity and venture capital funds that provide financing to them.
Renowned in the areas of mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance, Craig provides strategic legal and business advice to help companies realize their potential in both Canada and in new foreign markets. While Craig’s practice is sector-agnostic, he has for the past decade been extensively engaged with a wide variety of leading participants in the dynamic Ontario innovation ecosystem. In addition to providing excellent legal advice, Craig seeks to intermediate opportunities for all clients, including sourcing qualified investment targets for private equity and venture capital clients and introducing highly promising companies to strategic partners and investment groups capable of providing transformational growth capital.
Craig is one of the founding partners of the firm’s emerging technology practice in Toronto. Building on the market leadership of Fasken emerging technology practices in Montreal and Vancouver, Fasken is now Canada’s leading nationally integrated emerging technology practice, seamlessly supporting all Canada’s most vibrant innovation communities from coast to coast.
He is also a senior member of the firm’s Asia Pacific Practice Group and Leader of the firm’s India Team, assisting with client relationships across these important international markets and providing business development leadership in in India and Southeast Asia. Craig has facilitated foreign direct investment into Canada from more than ten different countries including the United States, India, China, Singapore and the UAE. Craig was a founding director of Invest Toronto, and serves as external counsel to its successor, Toronto Global, the regional foreign direct investment agency for the greater Toronto area.
Recognized by the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory, he is a Member of the Canada India Business Council, the Canada ASEAN Business Council and the Canadian Venture Capital Association.
