Overview

Craig Bellefontaine is a partner in the firm’s Finance Services Group. He regularly advises banks, trust companies, insurance companies, insurance intermediaries, fintechs, insurtechs and other financial services providers. Craig’s areas of practice include mergers and acquisitions, the establishment and licensing of regulated financial institutions, regulatory matters, and anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing requirements. In his practice, Craig regularly deals with federal and provincial/territorial regulators. 

Craig has held senior positions in government at both the federal and provincial levels, including the Chief of Staff to Alberta's Minister of Justice and Solicitor General and the Director of Issues Management and Parliamentary Affairs to Canada’s Minister of Finance. 

Craig completed his LL.B. at Dalhousie University and studied international business law at the Queen's University International Study Centre in Herstmonceux, England.
